Hiking is one of my favorite ways to burn calories. Over the weekend, I hiked Ya’Xaik Trail in Yachats, Oregon on the mid-Oregon Coast. The trailhead is kind of in an odd place, in the back parking lot of an apartment complex. It took me about 21 minutes to complete the trail, which is not a loop.
At the end of the trail, I could have kept going straight into what I am fairly certain was private property, or turn back and go the way that I just came, or go into the Gerdemann Botanical Gardens. I went into the Gardens (which is my next video), and it eventually put me back onto Highway 101, where I could walk back to the apartment parking lot where I started.
The hike itself was pretty awesome and not too difficult. There were a lot of big old-growth trees and mushrooms to look at, and signs along the way describing the history of the indigenous Ya’Xaik people who originally populated the area. Below is an embedded video from the Older Muscles YouTube channel of the hike (which I recorded with my GoPro).
